The morning looked promising. Keagen was on the road, traveling to a small town he’d never heard of. Filled with elation, thoughts of catching his prey made him smile. There was no need to rush. Despite his need to snag the escapee, he took a leisurely drive. Intel he received advised of a stranger who’d set up house in DeALTERNATECOVER with FWP logo FBwburn Falls, and was deemed a ‘badass.’

Keagen smirked. There’s a new player coming to town. Move over badass.

Relaxing into the soft leather seat of the BMW 328i, one of Keagen’s favorite rides, he took in the scenery and thought about his plan of action. Meticulously organized, he always had a fallback plan. He wasn’t at home being Mr. Cock-up, and hated if someone fucked up, which wasn’t too often as he mostly worked alone. Forced to team up on one occasion, it didn’t go well, resulting in a few deaths. Kicking off, Keagen said it was either his way, or he was retiring, which was funny considering they owned him; despite his reluctance to admit it. While he was comfortable, he’d put up with their shit and continued along his merry way. Doing their dirty work. With access to fast cars, the best weaponry, some not even on the market officially, and recreation time to fuck, life was good. He wanted it to continue.

His mind took him back to when it wasn’t so pleasurable, and his hands tightened around the steering wheel as he growled. While he didn’t have many memories remaining, he knew it wasn’t good. Faded scars on his body were the only reminders of his childhood, since Solgen wiped his memory. It was the standard protocol to start with a clean mind, and easier. Still perfecting the procedure, the scientists had made a few errors, but Keagen was their most successful guinea pig. Receiving top marks in all the tests, he confirmed loyalty to the company and, therefore, was allowed to leave the compound. At first, he was under supervision, but that had soon changed. After excelling in each mission within a few months, his reputation soared. Managing a hundred percent retrieval rate, with a required eighty percent coming in alive, he was the top dog. The twenty percent died because they resisted captureAVATAR FOR AUTHOR PAGE and return back to the labs. Keagen was strong. At the start of his hunting career, he didn’t know his own strength. Rarely bringing home a dead one these days, he’d learned to master his body and the enhancements.

The book has been up for sale for a week, to get a few sales in and hopefully some reviews, and I’ve been blown away by all the 5* reviews.

I’ve been likened to Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and James Patterson which is fabulous!

See what the readers think.

OMG! I simply can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series! Ms.Nicholls characters are always smoking hot men with brains, brawn and a slightly twisted sense of humor. Along with a tiny vulnerability that makes you love them, even with their faults. The women in this book kicks ass. I love the plot and am so EXCITED for the next one. This series is COMPLETELY different from her Demon series, both are 5 stars. One of the best authors, especially if your looking for hot sex, luscious men, strong kick ass ladies and a fast paced read! You will not regret a book by Julie Nicholls, EVER! EITHER series.

Julie Nicholls is a magician when it comes to the written word because Blood Ties is ABRACA…DAYUM! I love Keagan’s “I’ve forgotten more dirty tricks than you’ll ever know” attitude and how he and Gabriel bring balance to each other’s lives. I identify with the square peg in a round hole life that Keagan, Gabriel, Alyssa and Ghost lead either by experiment or birth. She has erotica down to an art form. Julie’s books are roller coaster rides. Your emotions and imagination pushed to the limits! She literally puts you in the middle of the action. I wanted to be in the passenger seat of Keagen’s car, speeding down the highway. Driving straight into the unknown at the side of a smoking hot badass to the core alpha male! I didn’t want this on the edge of my seat book to end!
I’ve followed Ms. Nicholls writing career from the beginning and she never disappoints. Her stories are exciting and captivating. Julie’s instincts for knowing exactly what a reader is looking for are always on point.
Forget pins and needles…I’ll be on a bed on nails waiting for the next installment of this trilogy!

This book is a wee bit different than what many paranormal shifter books offer.

You get to follow Lyssa and Gabriel as they are put in danger because of Gabe’s past. A world of trouble is headed their way as a hunter who has Gabes DNA is on his way to bring him back to the labs he was held captive in. You also get to meet the ever so sexy (and cocky) Keagen and fascinating Ghost. The action is packed in with twists and turns through the story too keep your mind guessing who exactly is the bad guy and who is truly good.

You’ll find yourself hoping a certain character is killed off then wondering why you would ever think that the next chapter. My emotions have been on an up and down train ride and then you get left with a slight cliff hanger that makes you wanna ask….

Soooo…about that second book in their series? Is it ready yet?

Blood ties is currently in production for an audio book…narrated by the fabulously talented actor, Scott Richard Ehredt.

REVIEWS FOR BLOOD TIES COMING IN!

Hey peeps!

It’s really good when self published authors like me receive reviews and I’m especially pleased when I’m compared to other authors in my genre.

Julie Nicholls has done it again! In Blood Ties, we meet Keagen, a product of Solgen Laboratories, taken in trade from his addict father at the age of twelve. Programmed by Dr. Keller with super intelligence and a killer instinct, he is perfection in his design.

Gabriel, another product of Solgen Labs, also courtesy of Dr. Keller, is Keagen’s target. A wolf shifter, he escapes after years of physical testing and abuse, settling in a small town, seeking refuge. Meeting Lyssa, also a shifter, he feels an instant attraction and their relationship grows stronger.

Keagen makes his appearance and the sparks fly. There is action, intrigue, deception, and lots of hot romance. The characters come alive through Ms. Nicholls writing and, as with her other books, they are memorable. As I read, thoughts of the writing of Sherrilyn Kenyon came to mind. This book is that good.

Format: Kindle Edition

Blood Ties is a great start to a promising trilogy featuring an intriguing cast of genetically engineered humans and lycans. This book has it all–science fiction, fantasy, action, adventure, and erotic sex scenes.

One of the elements in this book I found most enjoyable was the relationship that grew between Keagen and Gabriel. It reminded me of some of the “buddy movies” of the past–Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour, etc. Keagen, the genetically enhanced hunter, often shows a humorous side that Gabriel, a lyca and formerly Keagen’s prey, eventually comes to appreciate. Lyssa, Gabriel’s love interest and also a lycan, is sweet but no slouch when threatened. I also loved the minor character Tiny; he’s a real scene-stealer!

I’ll be impatiently waiting for the follow up to learn more about Ghost, Keagen’s female counterpart. She’s got a top secret ability most women would love to have. No, I’m not going to tell you what it is. No spoilers from me.

Bottom line–I recommend this book. I was given an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review, but if I hadn’t, I would have purchased it with no regrets.

Keagen sauntered into the first bar he came across. It was dark and dingy and only two other people took up space at the bar. Scanning thoroughly before pulling out a stool, there was a sudden rush of blood to his cock when the pretty bartender greeted him with a smile.

“Hey, stranger, what can I get you?”

“Now you’re asking.” Keagen grinned. “Coffee, please.” He couldn’t help notice her scent and smiled. She had to be the girlfriend. If he dropped in, that would make for an interesting meeting.

Lyssa poured the tall, dark, and extremely handsome punter a mug of coffee.

“Are you new in town, or just passing through?” Furnishing him with a cheery smile and wide eyes, she couldn’t resist a flirt. Aside from Gabriel, he was the only other good-looking man she’d set eyes on.

“Oh, I’m here to check on family.” He sipped his coffee while glowering over the rim at Lyssa. Noticing pert breasts with peaked nipples, his cock thickened under the restraints of his jeans.

“You have family? Here?” Raising both brows, Lyssa wondered who in Dewburn Falls had relatives this hot. “What’s your name?”

Keagen breathed deeply before pursing his lips. He wasn’t up for sharing right now, although he was sure he could fob her off with a line. “I’m adopted, so my name wouldn’t be familiar to you, but you can call me Keagen.” He leaned against the counter. “What’s your name, princess?”

“Lyssa.” She beamed. She liked the way he smiled. He was utterly delicious in a wicked ‘I’ll rip out your heart’ kind of way.

“That’s a pretty name for a pretty lady.” He flashed another dazzling smile. “Are you spoken for, or may I ask you out to dinner?”

Blushing, and suddenly feeling cornered, Lyssa grimaced. “Yeah, I’m kind of involved with someone, but thanks for asking.”

“Well I guess I’ll have to eat alone, then.” Keagen thought for a moment. She had to be involved with his prey. He snapped his head toward the door and watched another young and attractive female move closer. His brow arched. Dewburn Falls had much to offer. His nostrils flared as the scent drifted his way. Wolf. Another one. There’s no wonder he’d moved here; there’s wall-to-wall pussy. Well, sort of.

Lyssa smiled. “Hi, Sally. How’s it going?”

“Don’t ask.” Sally sidled behind the bar and grabbed a beer from the freezer. “I know it’s your night off, but I have a problem at home, and I wondered if you’d come back and work the last couple of hours for me? I’ll work your full shift tomorrow night. Would you do that, hon?”

Lyssa sighed. She hated working two shifts in one day. However, Sally had swapped with her in the past last minute. “Yeah, sure.”

“Thanks, doll. I’ll square it with the boss.” Sally gALTERNATECOVER with FWP logo FBlanced at the customer and sighed. Noticing his eyes focusing on her larger than average breasts, she smirked. “You need a refill hon?” She sauntered closer and gave him a better view as she leaned across to fill his mug. “Not seen you in town before. You planning on staying long?”

“Depends.” Keagen slowly licked his lips.

“On?”

“Whether there’s anything interesting enough to keep me.” He smoothed the flat of his hand over his hair. He’d tied it up in a man-bun, but a few stragglers had broken free.

Lyssa rolled her eyes as he flirted with Sally. Only two minutes earlier, she was a princess. Shaking her head, she should have known. Hot men like him don’t wait around, and if someone’s unavailable, they move on fast. No harm done. She was only flirting anyway, but it still annoyed her that she’d fallen for his charms.

The unmistakable honk of Gabriel’s horn outside made her squeal. He never let her down and always kept his promises. He restored her faith in hot men; they weren’t all cut from the same cloth.

“Okay, hon. I’m outta here.” She winked at Sally, then bolted for the door and yelled over her shoulder. “Have fun.”

Keagen’s eyes narrowed. Interested to know who the hottie was dating and if his suspicions were correct, he jumped off the stool and made for the door after throwing $10 on the counter.

A beaten-up truck pulled away and headed off down the street before turning right on a road leading out of town. That had to be him. Keagen ran to his car and followed the direction of the truck, keeping a safe distance. He didn’t want him spooked.

Blood Ties is a paranormal/shifter/romance story.

Meet K 3 4 G E N – He’s not quite human.

Sweat ran down Keagen’s muscular back as he pressed the female against the wall. His rock-hard body, with perfect proportions and stamina that would outlast a stable of thoroughbred racehorses, was nowhere near to flagging. He’d pounded the woman for the last hour, nonstop. The female on the receiving end of his attention cried herself hoarse more than twenty minutes earlier. She needed to rest, but large hands cupped her ass, supporting her weight, and only when he’d had enough would he let her down.

With the air-con turned up high the smell of fresh sweat and sex hung in the air. Keagen loved to fuck; he had some catching up to do after his sex-starved existence for the first part of his adult life. Puffing out a few quick breaths, he built up his pace. He was ready for a beer and wanted the woman out of his room.

Keagen was tall, muscular, and stronger than most men were, although he wasn’t exactly a man. His genes were human DNA with a hint of animal, courtesy of Solgen Laboratories. It wasn’t common knowledge what the company did, and their labs were all in secret locations. Only their financial backers knew where they were. Who supported them was unclear. Possibly the government, private military organizations, or even wealthy dictators; no one knew. You would not find any documentation about it. It wasn’t legal what they were doing, that’s for sure.

Keagen tracked and hunted escapees and always caught his prey, but just one eluded him, and it pissed him off. Nevertheless, he was closing in, and soon he’d return to base with his prize in tow. Given free reign to come and go as he pleased, Keagen enjoyed the freedom, and as long as he brought in the bounty, all was well. Sometimes out in the field for days or weeks at a time, he upheld contact by phone; a check-in, but he wasn’t worried. Sometimes he needed ‘Keagen’ time. Holed up at his secret hideaway, or a motel, where a steady stream of females frequented his room, he could easily fob off his supervisor. The geneticists made the mistake of giving him just a little too much intelligence. Consequently, his IQ already rivaled some of the top minds in the world, and he was smart enough to hide that fact from his testers.

Grunting and hissing through gritted teeth, Keagen screamed his orgasm as he fucked the flagging woman; those last deep thrusts into her satisfied pussy filling the room with a guttural cry. Throwing his head back, his wet hair slapped against his shoulders. The muscles in his thighs held the female firmly against the wall for a few moments until his hips finally stilled and finished jerking. Catching his breath, he rested his head against the cool plaster before releasing the sighing woman. As she tried to stand her knees buckled, but he quickly scooped her up and laid her on the bed.

Meet Gabriel – Lycan

It was quiet in the smoke-filled bar. Just the gentle humming from the waitress broke the silence. Drew’s was a rundown place where the locals piled in after work. Mostly hanging out for just a few drinks to wind down before heading home, they used it as a stopgap, preparing for more stress from either home life, or a second job. There were the regulars who propped up the bar day and night. Jack, one of the old-timers, spent all his time drooling over the young women as they tended bar. Occasional delivery trucks would hole up in the parking lot and the drivers would drop in for coffee, just to keep from falling asleep on long hauls. Smokey and dark, subdued lighting with wood paneling covering the walls and an unvarnished wooden floor, it was a place to relax and ponder.

Gabriel was a regular and sat at the end of the bar in his usual place. From his vantage point, he could view the entire room. He didn’t have children or work to unwind from, but still enjoyed a cool beer. Without turning his head, the washroom and entrance were all visible. He could see everyone come and go with ease. Sitting quietly, he’d listen. Unless someone started the conversation first, he’d barely speak, but take in everything.

The quiet town appealed to Gabriel. Moving here just over a year ago, he settled in easily and found a place to stay. After renovating a cabin just on the edge of town, it gave him the seclusion he desired. He could take a short drive into suburbia and have everything he needed before returning to the solace he preferred. He kept to himself and avoided confrontations. Causing trouble wasn’t in his nature. However, he came over as someone who didn’t take crap, and he would let small annoyances slide until he reached a breaking point, then you didn’t want to be around to see the fall out. On a few occasions, Gabriel let people know he wasn’t someone they should fuck with, earning him respect shortly afterward. In sleepy town bars, there’s always someone dropping by to stir up the calm. Stepping in to deal with troublemakers made him the resident bouncer. There was never any exchange of cash; he didn’t need a regular job. He just did it. Drew made sure he never went thirsty and all drinks were on the house for keeping the place brawl-free, which suited Gabriel. The more beer, the better, and he didn’t like having his peace and quiet disturbed; it was a win-win situation.

Watching Lyssa brought out his more human characteristics; he’d not always had those. A year ago, he was nothing more than a caged animal. He tried not to think about the past, but occasionally something would trigger his thoughts.

Taking a mouthful of beer, he watched everyone and everything. Casually watching Jack eye up the sweet piece of ass, he grinned. He’d been close, and was still working on getting closer. Never short of female attention, Gabriel made up for lost time as soon as he broke free from his captors. There wasn’t a huge choice of pussy in Dewburn Falls, but quality, not quantity was the issue here. Lyssa would succumb to him, eventually. Women couldn’t resist him. He was astounded she’d lasted this long; he had a feeling she’d be worth the wait. Continuing his advances and hoping for a victory soon, Lyssa proved an interesting challenge.

He wasn’t sure if it was luck, or fate, that brought him here, but finding two female lycans was a surprise. Taking a drink, he smiled as his thoughts turned to Sally. He’d been in town only two weeks and gotten lucky with her.

BLOOD TIES – NEW SERIES

Morning Peeps!

I’m currently working on the first book in a new trilogy, Blood Ties. This is a paranormal/shifter romance and I expect to release this book early January. My editor has returned the document and I’m currently re-writing and editing, but I can let you have a sneaky peek.
keagen gabriel banner1“Do I get to learn the name of my killer before I die?” Keagen said.

The female sidestepped slowly and concentrated her eyes on Keagen’s folded arms. “I don’t see that it matters. It’s not going to serve any purpose.”

“Aw, come on! Don’t I have the right to know the name of the woman I’m gonna kill?”

Keagen unfolded his arms and, without blinking, started firing in the direction of the female.

As if sensing his actions, she spun and sidestepped, dodging Keagen’s torrent of bullets. Her next move was furiously fast and Keagen didn’t see her kick until he felt the sting of her boot as it connected with his face. It knocked him off balance, and he hissed as he lost both Glocks, but recovered in time to catch her foot when it swung toward him once more. He twisted her leg sharply and she grunted. Responding lightning fast, she jumped in the air and kicked him hard in the chest with her other leg, causing him to release her foot. Lying on his back, he quickly rolled over, heading toward the guard and dragged him forward with such force that he lost his weapon. Keagen snatched it quickly off the floor and while attempting to scramble to his feet, shot at his enemy, although without success of causing harm. The guard cracked his head on the corner of the desk and lay unconscious, which at least evened the odds, although, not by much. The chick was even faster than he was, and he had to congratulate the geneticists, despite cursing them in the same breath.

Charging toward his target, he slammed her against the wall. Usually he’d be pounding a pussy while in this position, but not this day. He was fighting for his life and wasn’t sure he was going to win. This new version was way faster and stronger than he expected and he had no idea how he was going to stop her.

With his arms wrapped around her body, Keagen tried to drag her to the floor, but he cried out in pain as her head connected with his. The force was immense. With blurred vision, he struggled to stand. His hold was slipping and as he started to fall, he could hear only a wicked cackle ringing in his ears.

Landing on the floor with a THUD, he shook his head to try to bring himself around, but he was struggling. Aware of a noise, but unsure what it was, his head turned toward the direction. Everything was fuzzy, but he could just make out Gabriel as he crashed through the window.

Glass flew in all directions as he almost fell into the room at speed. Without hesitation, he shifted. Honing in on the female against the wall, who was now beckoning him toward her wearing a wide grin, he obliged her request and charged. His growl echoed around the room as he roared. Clawed hands sliced at the female as she ducked and dodged his attempts to cause harm. It seemed she was invincible. This was the future of Solgen Laboratories.

Gabriel staggered back when the chick punched him hard across the jaw. It didn’t matter that she cut her skin on sharp teeth; she merely smirked as she noticed the red blood against her pale skin. As if the party was flagging and she grew bored of the guests, the female drew two curved daggers from behind her back and lunged at Gabriel. Her intention to finish him was painfully obvious when Gabriel howled as a blade sliced across his right arm.

In the meantime, Keagen took the advantage while their foe concentrated her attention on Gabriel and kicked her feet away, sending her on her ass. Within seconds, both Keagen and Gabriel were on her. Punches flew while claws slashed, but not for long. A howl like a banshee ripped through the room. Springing from the floor, sending both men sprawling into the walls, the female dived through the broken window.

Both Keagen and Gabriel remained in their locations. Breathing heavily and still struggling to come to their senses from their injuries, it took a few minutes before Gabriel managed to get to his feet. Shifting to human form and aiding Keagen, he pulled him to sit in a chair while he checked his arm. The wound would heal quickly, the benefits of being a lycan, but it still hurt nonetheless.

“What the fuck was that?” Keagen sat, dazed and confused. Unable to shake the blurred vision or humming in his head, he pressed his hands to his forehead in despair.

“Come on, we need to get the fuck out of here before the cops turn up.”
