I’m showing you the book cover for my sequel to urban fantasy Blood Ties, the 2nd book in the Blood Trilogy, Blood Brothers.
I know, we’ve only just had a book cover release for Blood Ties! However, I’m really enjoying writing the 2nd book and have prepared the cover.
Our dynamic duo, Keagen and Gabriel have their work cut out for them again in the 2nd book.
Ghost, our genetically enhanced kick-ass female is finally going to learn who she is. Uh-oh… get ready.
Here’s a sneaky peek. I can’t give too much because there are spoilers!
Blood Brothers, Book Two -Chapter One
For the fifth night in a row, Keagen awoke to the sound of Ghost shouting. He expected this would happen. Leaving the employment of Solgen Laboratories was a difficult adjustment. Gone were the money, fast cars, weapons, and security, not to mention the title of top hunter. It would be difficult for her to adjust, but she would manage, eventually.
Welcome to the real world.
Jumping from his bed, Keagen rushed to Ghost’s room to find her in a state of unrest. She thrashed her head from side to side, unable to wake from the nightmare. Once more, she shouted in Russian.
“Nyet, spasibo! Ya ne khochu!”
Keagen roused Ghost from the nightmare. She lay on the bed, glaring up at him. Sweat soaked her hair and skin as she stared, wide-eyed and breathing heavily.
Perching on the edge of the bed, he pulled her into his arms and smoothed wet hair from around her face. “You’re okay. I’ve got you.”
Her terrors had become a nightly occurrence, and Keagen knew all too well what that was like. He’d been through it. Only time lessened the frequency, but they never stopped completely. Leaving the protection of Solgen Laboratories wasn’t a tough choice for him, once he learned about the early retirement they planned for him. While he was top dog, he would never have dreamed of leaving. But on discovery of the plans to replace him with Ghost, he had no choice.
Ghost closed her eyes and nodded. “I’m okay. Thank you.”
“Yeah.” She frowned. “I don’t know who the man is, but he keeps after me… I wish it would stop.” Ghost wiped away the sweat from her forehead.
“It will. It just takes time.” Keagen smiled. “You want me to get you something to drink?”
Shaking her head, Ghost sighed. “No, I’m good.”
As much as Keagen wished to stay in her room, it wasn’t helping his libido. Since Ghost had moved in, he’d refrained from driving into town to satisfy his aching balls. Abstinence wasn’t on his preferred list of activities. He was a natural predator and needed sex. Often. He couldn’t deny his initial feelings of hatred for the former hunter when he learned of her existence, but since they’d teamed up to take on Solgen, she was rapidly growing on him.
Breaking the hold, he jumped to his feet. “Okay, let me know if you need anything.”
“Did you find out anything about me yet?”
“Nah, I’m still trying to hack my way in. I don’t know why it’s proving difficult. I must be losing my touch,” he smirked. “Don’t worry. I won’t give up. This fucker is annoying me now. I’m gonna crack it, or die trying. Try to get some rest.”
Returning to his room, he settled back in bed. Hacking was one of his most precious skills, and he wasn’t going to let this issue get the better of him. Opening the laptop, he thought he’d have another go despite the mind-crunching pain in his head telling him to rest. For the last two days, a headache plagued him. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but he wasn’t on top of his game, and it annoyed the crap out of him. Keagen didn’t do half measures. He liked to win. Always. The determination to get into the encoded files was the most important item on his to-do list. For whatever reason, the coding on Ghost’s files was different from the others he’d hacked. If it took him all night, he didn’t care. He needed this information for himself, not just Ghost.
It was a mystery why she spoke Russian in all of the dreams. When Ghost was awake, she couldn’t speak the language. The secret was in her files. It had to be. Someone really didn’t want the information leaking. Keagen managed to break into his own files within days of learning about the other hunters. He was sure Keller and the lab geeks knew he had. As though it was accepted behavior for all super IQ hunters to go snooping. Ghost already tried but didn’t get anywhere, and now it was up to him.
He rubbed his forehead and groaned. Migraines weren’t something he suffered with, and yet this fucker was persistent, if nothing else. Always wary of taking meds, he usually avoided them. Once warned by someone at the labs that it could fuck with the viruses’ that rampaged through his body while the gene splicing took hold, he made it a policy to stay clear of all pills and potions, unless administered directly from Keller or his underling.
For the next two hours, his fingers worked the keys, and just as the first glimmering light from dawn crept into his room, he finally hit the jackpot.
The morning looked promising. Keagen was on the road, traveling to a small town he’d never heard of. Filled with elation, thoughts of catching his prey made him smile. There was no need to rush. Despite his need to snag the escapee, he took a leisurely drive. Intel he received advised of a stranger who’d set up house in Dewburn Falls, and was deemed a ‘badass.’
Keagen smirked. There’s a new player coming to town. Move over badass.
Relaxing into the soft leather seat of the BMW 328i, one of Keagen’s favorite rides, he took in the scenery and thought about his plan of action. Meticulously organized, he always had a fallback plan. He wasn’t at home being Mr. Cock-up, and hated if someone fucked up, which wasn’t too often as he mostly worked alone. Forced to team up on one occasion, it didn’t go well, resulting in a few deaths. Kicking off, Keagen said it was either his way, or he was retiring, which was funny considering they owned him; despite his reluctance to admit it. While he was comfortable, he’d put up with their shit and continued along his merry way. Doing their dirty work. With access to fast cars, the best weaponry, some not even on the market officially, and recreation time to fuck, life was good. He wanted it to continue.
His mind took him back to when it wasn’t so pleasurable, and his hands tightened around the steering wheel as he growled. While he didn’t have many memories remaining, he knew it wasn’t good. Faded scars on his body were the only reminders of his childhood, since Solgen wiped his memory. It was the standard protocol to start with a clean mind, and easier. Still perfecting the procedure, the scientists had made a few errors, but Keagen was their most successful guinea pig. Receiving top marks in all the tests, he confirmed loyalty to the company and, therefore, was allowed to leave the compound. At first, he was under supervision, but that had soon changed. After excelling in each mission within a few months, his reputation soared. Managing a hundred percent retrieval rate, with a required eighty percent coming in alive, he was the top dog. The twenty percent died because they resisted capture and return back to the labs. Keagen was strong. At the start of his hunting career, he didn’t know his own strength. Rarely bringing home a dead one these days, he’d learned to master his body and the enhancements.

The book has been up for sale for a week, to get a few sales in and hopefully some reviews, and I’ve been blown away by all the 5* reviews.
I’ve been likened to Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and James Patterson which is fabulous!
OMG! I simply can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series! Ms.Nicholls characters are always smoking hot men with brains, brawn and a slightly twisted sense of humor. Along with a tiny vulnerability that makes you love them, even with their faults. The women in this book kicks ass. I love the plot and am so EXCITED for the next one. This series is COMPLETELY different from her Demon series, both are 5 stars. One of the best authors, especially if your looking for hot sex, luscious men, strong kick ass ladies and a fast paced read! You will not regret a book by Julie Nicholls, EVER! EITHER series.
Julie Nicholls is a magician when it comes to the written word because Blood Ties is ABRACA…DAYUM! I love Keagan’s “I’ve forgotten more dirty tricks than you’ll ever know” attitude and how he and Gabriel bring balance to each other’s lives. I identify with the square peg in a round hole life that Keagan, Gabriel, Alyssa and Ghost lead either by experiment or birth. She has erotica down to an art form. Julie’s books are roller coaster rides. Your emotions and imagination pushed to the limits! She literally puts you in the middle of the action. I wanted to be in the passenger seat of Keagen’s car, speeding down the highway. Driving straight into the unknown at the side of a smoking hot badass to the core alpha male! I didn’t want this on the edge of my seat book to end!
I’ve followed Ms. Nicholls writing career from the beginning and she never disappoints. Her stories are exciting and captivating. Julie’s instincts for knowing exactly what a reader is looking for are always on point.
Forget pins and needles…I’ll be on a bed on nails waiting for the next installment of this trilogy!
This book is a wee bit different than what many paranormal shifter books offer.
You get to follow Lyssa and Gabriel as they are put in danger because of Gabe’s past. A world of trouble is headed their way as a hunter who has Gabes DNA is on his way to bring him back to the labs he was held captive in. You also get to meet the ever so sexy (and cocky) Keagen and fascinating Ghost. The action is packed in with twists and turns through the story too keep your mind guessing who exactly is the bad guy and who is truly good.
You’ll find yourself hoping a certain character is killed off then wondering why you would ever think that the next chapter. My emotions have been on an up and down train ride and then you get left with a slight cliff hanger that makes you wanna ask….
Soooo…about that second book in their series? Is it ready yet?
Blood ties is currently in production for an audio book…narrated by the fabulously talented actor, Scott Richard Ehredt.
Social media plays a huge part in the life of an author, and spending time to promote ourselves takes up valuable time, which could be spent writing. As most authors, I have my own blog/website, a twitter account, Facebook, Tumblr, Linkedin, Pinterest and a couple of others, and posting and sharing can take up a couple of hours easily.
I want to tell you about a fantastic app that I accidentally discovered. It’s called Symphonytools.
I am not the most technically-minded person in the world and it takes me a while to get my head around something. But I know within a few moments whether something is going to be useful or a pain in the arse, and this app is fan-daby-dozy!!!
I can make a post, select whichever blogs/social media sites I want to post to, upload a pic/link etc. Even schedule it. I can duplicate that post and schedule over days and times and also re post it on another site on a different day etc.
The Symphonytools app has given me freedom.
I live in Bulgaria, in a remote village and my internet is only slightly faster than pigeon post, and logging in and out of social media accounts for me can take a long time. I tend to have a problem with Twitter and Tumblr. The pages take a long time to load up and I can’t always retweet easily.
I’ve taken some snapshots of my screen to show you what Symphonytools looks like.
Here’s the dashboard. I’ve not connected all of my social media sites yet because when I first joined, I didn’t know what I was doing! But now I do so I’ll be adding EVERYTHING!
As you can see from my dashboard, I’ve got posts queued, and they will be going out to twitter and my Facebook Author page, because that’s what I selected. However, once I add the rest of my accounts, I can post on all of them, with one post, schedule it and even re post it! I can check the feed back, check post engagement. I can see messages on my Facebook and Twitter accounts. It’s bloody marvelous!!
Symphonytools gives analytics for all your posts on each social media site, so you can find out which time of day gives the higher response and helps you perfect your scheduling.
The other fabulous feature, which I particularly like, is that it allows you to reply to any of the posts on any of the social media sites, all from one place!!
I’ve not found any negatives yet, so right now, I’m as happy as a Frenchman who’s just invented self-removing trousers!!
